Follow these simple steps¨ you might already have some knowledge about simple haircare but in this blog I will share some more tips for long hair that are a little bit more maintenance. But definitely worth the effort and time! They have made a huge difference for my hair.

Ever thought about how a good scalp massage does more than just feel amazing? Turns out, it’s a fantastic boost for your hair too! When you massage your scalp, it gets the blood flowing, delivering all the good stuff your hair needs to grow strong and healthy. Plus, it helps spread natural oils, keeping your hair moisturized and shiny. And here’s a bonus – it can even ease stress and tension, which can be real culprits for hair troubles. Hair oiling

Hair oiling is beneficial for your hair and scalp for several reasons. I started hair oiling 6 months ago and it made a huge change in the health of my hair. the main benefits are:

  • Moisture and Hydration: Hair oils help to moisturize and hydrate the hair shaft, preventing dryness and brittleness. 
  • Nutrient Absorption: Many hair oils are rich in essential nutrients, such as vitamins and fatty acids, that are beneficial for hair health. Massaging these oils into the scalp can enhance nutrient absorption, promoting healthier hair growth.

  • Strengthening: hair oiling can help strengthen the hair shaft, reducing the risk of breakage and split ends. 

  • Improves Scalp Health: Scalp massage during the oiling process stimulates blood circulation, which, in turn, promotes a healthier scalp. A healthy scalp is crucial for preventing issues like dandruff and maintaining optimal hair growth.

  • Reduces Frizz: Certain oils, such as coconut oil and argan oil, have anti-frizz properties. Applying these oils to the hair can help smooth the cuticle, reducing frizz and promoting a sleeker appearance.

  • Adds Shine and Luster: Regular oiling can add a natural shine and luster to the hair, making it appear healthier and more vibrant.

Now you know what the benefits are it is also important how you use the oils on your hair. I recommend oiling 1-4 hours before showring, leaving oil in your hair for an extended period may lead to over-application, especially if you use a heavy or greasy oil. This can result in hair feeling excessively oily, heavy, or difficult to wash out.  This way other important hair care products can´t penetrate the hair anymore. Pro tip: don´t brush your hair while your oiling it! Your hair is weaker at this moment and more prone the breakage. I personally use the Mielle scalp oil, it is a rosamary hair oil. Hair oiling with rosamary hair oil has several benefits.
Another hair care tip that will be extra important if you start hair oiling is using a detox shampoo ones in a while. I use my detox shampoo 1/2 times a month. Using a detox shampoo will remove all dirt and product build up. If you have to much product build up products can´t penetrate the hair anymore and you are using your product for nothing! That´s a total waste of money. After using the detox shampoo your hair will feel squeaky clean! My personal favorite is the Quai detox shampoo but there are many other great options!
